KUCHING: Hock Peng Realty Sdn Bhd (Hock Peng Realty), a major construction and real estate developer based in Sarawak will be participating in the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association's (Sheda) Sarawak Builders Expo (Sarbex) 2011 Total Living Expo from September 30 to October 2 this year.
Tracing its roots back in the 1960's as a furniture maker in Sibu, Hock Peng Realty's parent company Hock Peng Organisation expanded and diversified over the decades to construction, property development, trading and hotels.
According to Hock Peng Realty regional manager (Western Region) Alex Wong, the company initiated the Palm Villa residential project near the new UiTM campus in Kota Samarahan early this year and launched Phase 1 just a few months ago to good response, leaving just a few units available.
Phase 2 of Palm Villa was due for launch soon featuring double-storey terrace houses. Pricing for the houses will be announced at the Sarbex.
Meanwhile several units of Phase 1 are still available with land sizes starting from 4.64 points and prices ranging from RM292,800 as well as double-storey semi-detached houses from RM445,000 with a land sizes of 11.7 points onwards.
The company was also featuring Taman Desa Damai near the government offices in the Kota Samarahan area where single-storey terrace houses started from RM189,800, double-storey terrace houses from RM268,800 and double-storey semi-detached houses from RM329,8000, he said.
In terms of commercial lots, Phase 2 of the SMI Industrial Park at the Demak Laut Industrial Estate featured 30 units of recently launched three-storey commercial shop houses starting at RM738,800 for intermediate lots with a size of 109.8 square metres.
Outside of Kuching, the company had commenced other projects involving commercial and residential buildings in Sibu as well as township projects in Mukah and Betong.
In Sibu, the company's Medan Jaya Commercial Centre offerings included three storey shop houses in Phase 5 near the Medan Mall along Jalan Wong King Hou starting at RM850,000 per lot.
Wong stated that the shop houses units were built with suspended slabs to avoid gradual sinking into the soft peat ground which was a particularly notable issue in the Sibu area.
In addition to the shop houses, there were a few units of three bedroom apartments located in four-storey blocks with lifts priced from RM268,000. Wong stated that about 80 per cent of the 480 units had already been sold.
The Betong New Township project, in tandem with the state government's development plans for the area, saw the construction of three-storey shop houses near the newly completed bus terminal, market, departmental store, Medan Hotel and a supermarket.
Phase 1 of the shop houses were completed while Phase 2 was under final construction stages to accommodate two colleges. Units from both phases were sold out.
However, Wong noted that the company was going to launch Phase 3 of the shop houses soon. Pricing should be ready by the time Sarbex 2011 opened to the public.
The company, being heavily involved in the Mukah township construction project for years, was offering residential units at Phase 3 and 4 of Taman Li Hua along the new Mukah-Oya expressway.
The single-storey terrace houses started at RM193,000 while the double-storey houses were priced from RM271,800, he revealed.
