KUCHING: A helicopter with four people on board crashed into Sungai Tereso near Simunjan, some 150km from here, on Friday.
Police said the private-owned chopper went down at about 9.20am near Batang Lupar rivermouth.The German pilot, Rko Steger, 35, managed to get out from the crash.
He swam for four hours before being rescued by local fishermen and taken to Kampung Tebeluk in Sebuyau.
A search and rescue team has been despatched to the area to find the three passengers believed to be engineers.
They were on their way to Nanga Merit in Belaga District.
Breaking News ( Sarawak Update ) :
A helicopter crashed near Sebuyau at 9.30am.
The helicopter was travelling from Kuching to Kapit when Kuching and Sibu Traffic Control Towers lost contact with the aircraft.
The helicopter is owned by Dato Sng company.
Sarawak Workers Party (SWP), Larry Sng said the pilot survived the incident. Three persons are still missing, including a lady.
Sng and Larry were not travelling together with their staffs when the tragedy struck.
